What Goes Around, Comes Around

Jake sat on the edge of the halfpipe, twiddling Josh’s hematite ring in his hand. It had been only three days since Josh’s passing, and Jake was devastated: the views had plummeted. Of course he loved his brother, but he also loved his yellow Lamborghini just as much and the payment was coming up. It seemed that people tuned into the Rayna brother’s show for just that- the Rayna brothers. One was simply not the same without the other, and that truly affected the show’s humor, tone, & talent. How was Jake supposed to dance, joke, and misbehave without his dumbass brother? After the accident, the only thing the flaming semi truck left behind was Josh’s hematite ring, cast more than a couple yards from the explosion site. At least he went out like he lived- doing something incredibly reckless and stupid for the views. So there he sat, loitering in the skate park long after close, waiting desperately for the view count to exceed 500,000. Now, being alone in a major city at this t...

The Twinning

His prey sat quietly across the classroom, oblivious to his insidious agenda from afar. True he was one of the most well-respected kids in school: sports star, gorgeous, stacked, hung… There wasn’t a lady or a guy that didn’t want to either be him, or be with him. And yet, even at the top of the mountain, being so far removed from everyone else started to weigh down on him. No one was ever on his level. No one could ever fill this void of broish fraternity. Not even his teammates could match him, and this bothered him immensely. So, the devious jock hatched a plan. This kid had a crush on him. It was so obvious that he even toyed with him constantly. He’d be caught in the locker room without his shorts on, he’d forget his deodorant one day, he’d kick his shoes off and lounge in his seat, he’d ride past on his motorcycle… Each time getting a kick out of this boy who had a serious affinity for him. This made him the ideal target. He’d be getting exactly what he wanted… And it’d be ...

Soul of the Soles

Walking into your apartment after a long day's work, irritation floods you as you see Mackey, your dumbass roommate, lounging and smoking a blunt in the living room. You and he hadn’t seen eye to eye in a good long while, since he had been eating your food, bringing back random people from his bar escapades, even using your damn toothbrush! Suffice to say, he wasn’t the ideal roommate, but he paid the rent on time. Even dumb skater boys need places to live. It didn’t alleviate your frustration, however, as he sat there with that dumb look on his face. You had been clear with him: no smoking in the house.  “Mackey, are you kidding me?” You were fuming, smoke was practically seeping from your ears. “You can’t even smoke that shit outside? Are you serious?” “Hey, chill out man. It’s just one blunt, I’m not even using the bong this time.” Your pent up wrath was beginning to boil over- since when did he have a bong in the house? “Anyway dude, last night I came back from Tipitina’...

Forged in Sweat

Harry had been working out for the past two hours, desperately trying to lose his stubborn paunch. The past few years of 9 to 5 cubicle life had taken a toll on his self-esteem, so thanks to a wayward Pinterest post, he bought a membership at the local neighborhood gym. After his first day of a rather pathetic attempt at the rowing machine and treadmill, he thought a nice relaxing stint in the sauna would help relax his aching legs. Opening the thick cedar wood door to the sauna, the humid air burst forth through the opening. He walked over the creaking wooden floor and plopped down onto the dry, warm bench. The oppressive heat combined with the subtle pain in his neck encouraged him to relax and melt into a slouch, ignoring the other patron lounging in the corner. Like a panther stalking it’s prey, the man sitting hunched over in the corner stared at Harry. He silently analyzed him, all the while smirking with restrained excitement. “First time?” Harry jumped, startled by the un...

Libertines

You sat, embarrassed in the backseat of the hurdling car. What started out as a simple recon mission became a lot deeper real quick, and now you’re off to some unknown place with this drunk and high punk douchebag making faces and taunting you. He sits there, pulling his lips from side to side, sticking his pierced tongue out, letting it get mere centimeters from the side of your face. The smokey timbre of his breath, and the horrendous stench of age-old marijuana permeated your nose. Irritated, and already anxious in your predicament, you turn to the little shit and shove him back in his place. “Fuck, man! When am I gonna see Travis? You better be taking me to him!” The punk, in his inebriated stupor laughs, lounging back against the side of the van, kicking his filthy, reeking feet onto your lap; the trashed Vans and ratty socks did little to contain their rank musk. “You’ll see him… He wants to see you too.” He winks, teasing your cheeks and nose with his footstench. “Besides,...

Whatever Happened to Eddie Ray?

There he is. The target. The prey. Damn, I feel like a creepy lil stalker, but I swear, this is what I’ve been planning for months, and I need this. I need this to feel normal. To get what I want. See, I got a brother. A sexy, studly, badass big brother named Josiah. And as his little sister, of only a year I might add, I have always looked up to him. Josiah and I were always close. He would go out onto the driveway and show me his super cool skateboarding tricks, and i’d sit out on the front steps cheering him on. That was the way it was.  That is until Eddie came along. I mean, yeah. He was super nice to me, and we could be classified as “friends,’ I guess. But here’s the catch: he stole Josiah. Instead of me cheering him from the porch, Josiah was at the skatepark with Eddie. Instead of coming and playing N64 in the living room, he was at Eddie’s place smoking the weeds. And all the entire time, I was never allowed to come with! I mean, he’s 23 and I’m 22. So it’s not like I’m t...

Brothers in Arms

“Hey boys, look who we got here!” Those words strike fear into every insecure man in a locker room, and for Franklin, this was no exception. Late night workout, 2 AM, no one there. The tubby gent slowly turned, and to his chagrin, three beefcake soldiers stood there, flexing and showing off their physiques. He had seen these three douchebags for the past week or so, taking up all the free weights and just being an all around noisy nuisance. But who’s going to tell three American Army soldiers to fuck off? Certainly not unassuming Franklin. “Hey guys, I’m really in a rush, so I’m gonna get in the showers and head home.” The three smugly exchanged glances, muttering whispers under their breath. Franklin meagerly tried to pass the three mountains, but to no avail. Every move he made to get to the showers was mirrored by the “heroic” bullies.  “Whoa, whoa, whoa. Why in such a rush, man! We’re shipping off in a few days, and we want some fun.” The color in Franklin’s cheeks flush...
