Predestination

Promising Sunnmore University Ph.D. Candidate Missing Aug. 31, 2006 A promising research student has gone missing as of this past Wednesday from the Sunnmore University campus. Sean McDonough, a Ph. D. candidate studying genetics at the university, left Swampscott Hall at approximately 9:45 PM and did not show up for his office hours the following morning. Campus police state that the incident likely occurred during Wednesday night's freak storm while the University security cameras were down for scheduled maintenance that evening.  McDonough, a native of Providence, has been intimately involved in various secretive genetic studies conducted by Dr. Howard West and Dr. Delia Whateley. Motives remain plentiful behind his disappearance, but local authorities assure the community at large that there is no evidence yet of foul play. Fellow colleague and doctoral candidate Elias Delahaye remembers McDonough as a "brilliant scientist" and "dear friend." --- Carefully...

Never Sleep with Your Phone On

Throughout recorded history, humans have been terrified of the dark. They created stories of sordid creatures of the night that would creep out from beneath your bed and drag you to some subterranean lair to languish in your final moments; or slither out of your mirror if you left it uncovered when your lights were extinguished to steal your soul from your snoring lips. The tales and cryptids across all cultures were all effective in terrifying their communities once the sun set on the horizon. Though that is not necessarily to say that every tale was crafted from pure imagination.  When technology bloomed, humans believed that the horrifying superstitions of yore were long behind them. They had evolved past the primitive fears of what lurks in the shadows, where in reality they had become complacent, arrogant, and lulled. Certainly some of the eldritch creatures had subsided, as all creatures do eventually. Though for every dead legend, a new myth sprouts, and each of those grew a...

Sweat & Polyester

Siyu Jiang was in love. After moving to the United States from Guangzhou to get his degree in Software Engineering, it was a hard pill to swallow that he was less than stellar at mingling with his peers. Guangzhou was a mega city, easy for him to blend in and mind his own business, busy enough for him to get a contact-high of sorts to feed his need for socialization. New Orleans on the other hand, while not a small town per se, felt tiny and almost claustrophobic to him. Everyone knew eachother, and everyone took the time to chat, go out, have a drink or a blunt, 'fraternize' if you catch my drift... and Siyu quietly observed from a distance, watching the world bustle by.  That is, until he saw Eduardo. In China, he had never felt attracted to men. Perhaps it was the somewhat hostile environment for queer folks, or perhaps it was New Orleans' more laissez-faire attitude about stuff like that, but when the new semester started and he walked into that chemistry class, it was...

Mechanical Assimilation

Tyler walked into the university gym for the very first time. The hot, heavy air hung low in the brick cavern, with his school’s athletes training hard in every corner. All of them big, thick, sweaty, and smelly- one of the two main reasons he’d avoided the gym for his first semester, the other being the intense insecurity he felt being surrounded by guys who at the bare minimum knew what they were doing. All these men seemed to effortlessly use these machines, these strange different weights like the mysterious kettlebell… And there he would be, somehow fucking up the pec fly machine. As he flashed his student id against the scanner, the loud ping of the system logging his entrance was enough to have a few of the patrons heads turn in his direction, all of which smiling and chuckling to themselves. He quietly returned his id to his wallet and tried to make an a-line to the locker room, only to be intercepted by a loud brutish voice calling him out. Tyler shut his eyes and sighed, grea...

Courtside

He is so fuckin hot. Elijah Toussaint. What a stud. You’ve come to the same gym for years, and the moment you saw him join the club, you were hooked. Laid back, cocky, a little rowdy, but you know he has some sort of energy about him that you find entirely irresistible. Every now and again he nods his head at you, acknowledging your presence at least, and for a while that was enough. The butterflies you had in your stomach lasted all day until you could get home and shoot the tension right out into your rag. The way that ripped, tatted body glistens with sweat when the light hits him, those light minty eyes that sparkle like gems, the wet hot musk that trails behind him as he passes… every inch of him is a present just waiting to be unwrapped. It wasn’t long before that little nod and piercing glance just didn’t satisfy you the way it used to. So you had to up the ante a bit. After his lifting, leaving his sticky sweat all over the benches, he always retreats to the basketball co...
