The Family

Kyle and Liam stepped off the rickety old airplane, immediately being smacked in the face with the hot southern humidity. Landing in Meridian, Mississippi the two Chicagoan city slickers dreaded the next three months that lay ahead. They were gay boyfriends in a deep South state, staying with Kyle’s backwater family in the country- so being nervous was understandable at the least. However, it was easily noticeable the absolute disdain they held for the “redneck” lifestyle that the Braxton family lived. All they were there to do was to finish picking up the last of Kyle’s things before the Fall Semester started, and they could probably duck out early from their hillbilly hell. The extent to their distaste would only grow more and more when they walked out of the tiny terminal, bags in hand, only for Kyle to immediately put his face in his palm.   Terrence hated his cousin. Sam was a megajock football player who always knew just how to push his buttons. So when his mom gave him an ultimatum of having Sam train him and help him get on the football team, or having his new PS4 trashed, it was an easy but nasty decision. When Terrence showed up at the team locker room after school that day, he had no idea what was in store for him. He called out his cousins name into the echoing locker room, and heard a quiet chuckle from further inside.  “Just get in here, Terry boy.” Sam called out, hidden by the dim lights and tall green lockers. As Terrence approached him, the familiar stench of Sam wafted in the air. Its strange combination of Old Spice and b.o. completely invaded the nostrils.
