All Hallow's Eve

You had no idea what to be for Halloween. What made it even worse was the fact that you were visiting your best friends in New York City. They invited you to a costume party at a huge club. Not wanting to disappoint your friends, you did your damnedest to make the coolest costume ever, and you totally succeeded! That is, until your luggage got lost at LaGuardia. Now, you’re on the subway on Halloween, heading toward your friend’s place in the Village, completely without a costume. Completely enveloped in your phone, you neglect to see the punk kid sit across from you and begin to stare at you. It isn’t until your phone dies (DAMN IT!) that you notice him. He is young, covered in piercings in a spikey leather jacket. His red skin and horns, accompanied by his completely red pupils alluded to a demon costume. To be honest, the makeup is really impressive! He really went all out for that! You give the kid a thumbs up, showing you approve of his amazing get up. In response, he licks his

Preworkout

Terrence hated his cousin. Sam was a megajock football player who always knew just how to push his buttons. So when his mom gave him an ultimatum of having Sam train him and help him get on the football team, or having his new PS4 trashed, it was an easy but nasty decision. When Terrence showed up at the team locker room after school that day, he had no idea what was in store for him. He called out his cousins name into the echoing locker room, and heard a quiet chuckle from further inside.  “Just get in here, Terry boy.” Sam called out, hidden by the dim lights and tall green lockers. As Terrence approached him, the familiar stench of Sam wafted in the air. Its strange combination of Old Spice and b.o. completely invaded the nostrils. Sam knew that he was very sensitive to smell- even his moms lavender candle was too much for him to handle. So, he hadn’t showered since morning practice. Sam stood near his locker, taping his fingers. Without even turning to look at him, he laughed. “

In Praise of Perry

What’s strange is, you had no idea Perry was gay. As much as you adored your big brother, this revelation blindsided you. So, when your parents threw him out of the house because of him coming out, you were of course devastated. Perry was your biggest role model. He was always so cool, and so caring. Whether it was him taking you for rides on the Harley, bringing you to his band’s shows, or simply keeping your deepest and darkest secrets; Perry was the best brother a kid could have. Your parents had left the country for a while: a “business” trip in Canada. Of course you called Perry as soon as they left. About an hour after they left, Perry showed up in his typical bad boy get up. To everyone else on earth, he was the ultimate strong masculine figure. To you, he was the coolest brother, with a heart of gold. He walked through the front door, his trashed black chucks squeaking on the marble floors. “Little man, I’m so glad you called.” He embraced you in a gigantic hug, his muscular

Accountability

He looked at me, catching me in my lie. The ever so slight raised eyebrow denoted his suspicion. All I could do is hope at this point that he would be merciful. “I know you didn’t go the gym today. I waited and looked for you, and you weren’t there, so don’t lie to me.” I stared at him, sweat dripping from my brow, and in a panic dropped to my knees, begging him to forgive me. Pleading with him to let this one time slide. My boss kept me for overtime, it’s not as if I had a choice! What was I supposed to do? “You know the rules, bro. Can’t let it slide this time. Three strikes… You’re out, I’m in.”  “Please, Adrian. I have a date with Connor tonight, and I need to be there. I’ve cancelled twice because of our workout sessions. I’m begging you, just let me be.” Clearly irritated, he silently shakes his head, solemnly replying, “Guess I’m just gonna have to play wingman tonight dude.” I exhaled slowly, preparing myself for what was about to happen, completely resolved at this point. I
