Dr. W. A. Frost's Ides of Revolution

  Tony and Kyle were always best buds. They hung together, ate together, smoked together… inseparable. But once graduation rolled around, the boys realizes they would likely be parting ways. Tony had a scholarship to Florida State, and Kyle chose University of Miami, both leaving their Tampa home; and each other. That was, of course, until Corporal Ramirez came to their high school for Army recruitment. Kyle, as a joke, had signed the two up for an information session. They were by no means prime picking for the military, as mathletes and chess club aficionados, so they never intended on taking the session seriously. That was, of course, until they met Corporal Ramirez.  The two boys stepped into the room, and sat down, there were rows of empty seats in the counselors office, all with Army pamphlets showing the glory of a soldiers life.   A week ago, a twenty-something professional skateboarder died after falling off his board in an alley. He was trying to land some crazy trick, and I guess it didn’t work. So, Kevin thought he’d cover the story as the Investigative reporter for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He looked up and down the alley, past the yellow police tape, searching for clues. Underneath the gigantic dumpster, he saw something lodged behind it. Pulling the dumpster away, he found a pair of ratty skateboarding shoes.  These must have been his! He snatched the sneaks and stuffed them in his bag. He continued the search for hours but found nothing. He sat down against the wall, and found himself flying onto the ground.
